The Hermes Audio Vendor System comes in 3 Parts

  1. The Hermes AV Asset Server
  2. The Hermes Vendor Displayboard
  3. The Hermes Vendor Block

What's in the pack?

Hermes Workbench Laptop

Keep this handy - it contains live links to the online documentation for the vendors, the server, the workbench and players.

Hermes Album Vendor Block 2.1.1 P/I/B

One block per product - it will preview the tunes, collect monies and dispense information. Keep within 10 metres - preferably less - of the backframes. While you're free to alter its appearance do not rename the prims - this is important. This is the component you will drop the received vendor scripts into.

4 types of vendor Displayboards

Depending on how you feel, your prim allowance etc - you can choose any of the packaged Displayboards. They are full mod (apart from the scripts). Feel free to play with them and make them 'your own'

  • Hermes Mp3 Vendor 2.1.1 - Chrome Frame - 9 prim
  • Hermes Mp3 Vendor 2.1.1 - Basic - 1 Prim
  • Hermes Mp3 Vendor 2.1.1 - w / Lighting - 27 prim
  • Hermes Mp3 Vendor 2.1.1 - wo / Lighting - 24 prim

Hermes AV Asset server

The core of the system - rez it and keep your album and info inventory inside it. Do no keep multiple Asset servers rezzed as it can cause deliveries to fail. You may wish to take regular copies for backup purposes however.

Lets begin....

The Hermes AV Asset Server

Rez and place the Server in a secure parcel of land somewhere on your SIM. If you don't have land to rez the vendor safely, contact us and we will find you a low cost, secure location. Drop your boxed albums into the server via its contents tab. - nb - Keep the Server rezzed

Hermes Vendor Displayboard

The Vendor Displayboard is the core of the live Vendor, It's modifiable and copyable so you're free to make it "your own" - please bear in mind that the root prim must remain the root prim and named prims should keep their original names. If you want the displayboard to show the name of the album and track it's currently displaying, please make sure you include the xyzzytext prims. As you construct your system, we would advise you take backups at every step of the way - especially if you're planning on installing on group owned land, where you will need to deed the backboard to group (and may possibly lose the ability to edit it).

The displayboard is the component that plays the tracks embedded in the vendor unit and if you want it to play the albums it's showing, you'll need to make sure it has permissions to control the music in the parcel. This means it needs to belong to the owner of the parcel, or if the parcel is group owned, it should be deeded to the group.

The displayboard is given to you full perm so you can transfer it to the landowner if you need to. The displayboard doesn't take money, so you don't have to worry about your payments going to the landowner or group.

The Hermes Album Vendor Block

One vendor block per album, Each unit will play a preview of the song or album on the server, can give information packs, Land Marks, Notecards etc and finally collect payment and deliver the album inworld from your server to anywhere on the grid. You can place up to 10 vendor blocks on the standard displayboard. But feel free to modify it if you need to hold more or fewer vendors. You can display the blocks in any way you wish but they need to be within 10 metres of the displayboard in order to work correctly.

Scripting a vendor block

Rez a Vendor block - and put it in place on the displayboard - don't link it to the board or deed it to the land group.

Each album block needs to know which album it's to display and for what price. Log into your Hermes account page at http://hermes.slevolution.com to set the vendor block up.

Choose an album to sell (it must be a burned album - projects will not work in vendors) and click Review/Edit. On the Album Edit page you can set the price in L$ and have the correct script delivered to you in world. You can also choose which objects in your AV Asset Server will be delivered when a customer clicks the "Info" prim, or pays the vendor. When you're happy with your album settings select Vendor Script from the Top menu and one of our bots will send the script to control the vendor to your avatar.

Installing an album into a vendor block via the server

Once your album is burned and tested, box it up and drop the full package into your server. From your account page, go to the album your working on and associate it via the “Album Package” dropdown menu

Installing notecards and goodies into a vendor block via the Server

Your vendors can deliver notecards or other items via the Info pane. To do this, drop your item into the server, let it refresh and associate the item with your album on drop down list labeled “Info Item”

Script Delivery

Select and edit the Vendor Block and drop the named vendor script in via the contents tab. A yellow dialog box will appear asking account permissions. This is to enable the vendor to pay refunds for incorrect payments. It also allows the vendor to pay us a 5% per transaction / commission fee.

The vendor will tell the Displayboard its details, and should display the texture from the first track in the album. It will tell you it's 'Ready'.

Step by Step recap

  1. Create your packaged album
  2. Drop it and any associated info / goodie pack into the asset server
  3. Log onto your account, select your album and via the dropdown menus, associate it with the packaged object and info pack
  4. Save your work
